Default Most underrated Musical Artist/Band

Hey, I was talking about this with some mates earlier today and thought it would be interesting to find out who you guys think some of the most underrated musical artists/ bands out there.

I think that The Strokes and AC/DC (because AC/DC never seems to pop up on any of these rock awards shows for biggest contributions or something).

Anyway, tell me what you guys think!

If you think this topic is completely pointless then mods close please. thnx.

I'll 2.nd Hammerfall! - Great band!
Also: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Metallica and ManOwar - yeah people do recognise their contributions to rock/metal - but they don't get nowhere near the credit Hendrix, Beatles or Elvis does!

I'd Say Powerman 5000

Great band, great music, they may not have brought any contribution, but I have yet to hear some one hate them.

Some of the most underated artists are the old bluesmen, like J. J. Cale and Muddy Waters. Their style influenced a lot of later artists.

The Strokes seem to be underrated here in britain, if thats where your not from lol. They've won awards but people still don't know who they are if you mention them (obviously depends who you talk to).

I actually like muddy waters, I Be's Trouble-great song

The Strokes are good but I don't think they are overrated IMO.

lol, since "is this it" in 2001, nme's never stop banging on about them. They know how to keep themself to themself and stay under the radar, despite a celab (ex)girlfriend and such. Just wait til the next album, and nme will get on their knees again.

As for underrated in the UK, I'd say PearJam.

Anyone hear of a group called Indigenous? They are a native american group that sounds a lot like Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble.

Sonata Arctica. Though I must admit I like bands less when they start winning awards... Fame tend to go to their heads and then the music gets more commercial (read: crappy). Look at Within Temptation. Won the TMF awards once (a major dutch award, for those unfamiliar with it), and after that, their music just became... crappy. Gimme unknown, underappreciated bands anytime. At least they still put in some effort

You have got to be f***ing kidding...

Nearly every top-100 metal list has Zeppelin as #1. They are commonly regarded as the single greatest metal band EVER. Sometimes even the single greatest band ever, by those who don't even listen to metal.

Sabbath & Metallica are among the most well-known metal groups in existence.

I do agree with you on Manowar though.

I agree on Hammerfall, great band. (I never thought an old man like Yang would listen to that tbh)

Seether is very underrated here in the Netherlands too, while they are very awesome aswell.

Rolling Stones are stupidly underrated, they dont get enought attention for their work, few bands will last 40 years and still be rocking it and most bands wont last 4 years let alone 40.
To so they are one of the best bands ever is a understatment, they are the best rock n roll band of all time and there still going.

Others include: U2 dont get enough awards (yeah right), Bon Jovi are very underated with magazines such as the Rolling Stones rarely mentioning them, Aerosmith are so un-appricated its a joke.

Also Hendrix deserves his credit because he shaped rock music, no he wasn't the best player (although he could not read and played a right handed guitar in his left hand and played and learned by ear which is amazing)but he was groundbreaking at the time but I'd argue that Richie Sambora is one of the best but noone will agree .

AC/DC, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin were the bands that shaped heavy rock but then again Queen did every type of rock music perfectly.

Rolling Stones, Beatles, Elvis and Clapton ect, set the foundations but wait if you think any of these bands would even exsist without Chuck Berry, Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters as well as others then you need to take a better look .
